SDG First
Innovation in Technology to Create a Video Conferencing System
The Brief
United Nations is on a mission to achieve the globally accepted Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. UNDP has created SDG Coordination Centres in several regions of India. The SDG Coordination Centre (SDGCC) in Haryana, in partnership with the Haryana Government, envisioned a video conferencing platform to bring together stakeholders from government, non-profits, municipal bodies and educational institutes to regularly meet and brainstorm solutions.

The Challenge
This is an innovative idea for a virtual exchange which has no readily available references. Hence, we had to design the virtual exchange platform solution completely from scratch. Another key challenge was to research solutions which were low-cost, yet met all the sensitive requirements of the project stakeholders.
Our Approach
The project entailed carefully evaluating various video conferencing and webinar solutions, web integrations and testing environments to ensure which system would work the best to meet all the requirements of an international non-profit such as UNDP. To keep out costs low, we decided to integrate off-the-shelf solutions such as Wordpress and Zoom to create a unique platform for holding video conferences.
The Results
We were successful in launching the platform in time for the first virtual exchange meeting. The platform facilitated registrations and enabled users to participate in virtual events that were based on discussions around how to successfully achieve the SDGs in Haryana. We also enabled the IT team at the client’s location to use and update the platform for more upcoming events.
